Lucky’s history began nearly 50 years ago, when founder Allen Leach started the business as a contract packer of confectionery in 1957 under the name of Lucky Candy.
The company’s first premises were in Canterbury, Victoria at the back of the family grocery store and over the years, a number of moves into larger premises and business changes saw Lucky produce a range of cooking nuts that quickly became a permanent item in cupboards and pantries of Australian households.
Select Harvests Food Products Pty Ltd (based in Thomastown) now owns the Lucky brand. Lucky manufactures and retails a range of nut and seed products, including almonds, walnuts, cashews, hazelnuts, pepitas and sunflower kernels.
Lucky also produces a delicious range of products that are ideal for snacking. Nut, fruit and seed mixes in resealable tubs are ideal to have in the office, in the car or at home and the 30g boxes (sold as 6 packs) mean that people can have healthy snacks on hand whenever hunger strikes.
Lucky packaging was redesigned and launched across Australia in September 2007. The new design has retained the use of the brown and gold colours that are aligned with the Lucky brand in the new logo. There is a consistent look across the range, which strongly communicates the ‘goodness from nature’ positioning and appetite appeal.
Lucky has grown from its humble beginnings to become the leading nut brand in the dried fruit and nut category in supermarkets across Australia. |
